Hello everyone,
With all of the messages I've sent along, I've not really filled anyone in on what I'm up to here in Antarctica.
I am a meteorologiest working at teh Antarctic Meteorology Research Center (AMRC). Our science project is tasked with collecting, archiving and displaying various weather and satellite data for the forecasters here at McMurdo Station, fo rthe other scientists to use with their research as well as for use by other folks - including other polar/antarctic programs from other countries and educational uses.
We collect polar orbiting weather satellite data as it flys over McMurdo Station and sae teh data on tape. This data is large in size. We also collect and display output from about 50 or so Auotmatic Weather Stations (AWS) that have been placed around the continent, by our sister project at the University of Wisconsin. We also collect data from teh Italian AWS stations
