Hello All,

I've just returned from a science lecture by the "Penguin Cowboy" Dr. Kooyman. It was all about the Emporer Penguins, and had some impressive video of them. They are an interesting bird, in that the male incubates the eggs while the females run off to eat and have fun in the ocean. That's a 64-day incubation...I'll bet some folks with is were like that with Humans! There's much they don't know about them, though, especially what happens to them when they molt, and where they go until they breed again. They also have very, very large eyes, but they cover them up when above water as they are used to help catch fish here in the winter when the sun is not up at all!

It has been a busy day, getting to meet with several scientists who are interested in our weather project, as well as some television/sable crews that are here, who want to stop in for a visit (they do programming for high schools). Tomorrow, Tim Wirth, who is the Undersecretary for Global Affairs from the US Senate Department, and Dr. Lovejoy, a science advisor from the Smithsonian Institute will be stopping by for a visit to see our weather data.

The wind is whipping up out there tonight...the forecast has a chance that we'll go to "condition 2" for weather...a not so good state of the weather.

Take Care! Until Next Time...

Matthew
