Hello everyone!

It's a rather quiet Sunday here at McMurdo Station, everyone is recovering from quite the Thanksgiving feast, which we had yesterday. It was very nice, all the Turkey and trimmings. They even had a few fancy items, including some shrimp (surrounding the base, of some ice sculpture - not that we don't have too much ice around here! :-) ).

This morning I got to hike down to Scott's Hut, the hut that Scott built during his journey here at the turn of the Century. It isn't too big, but was enough so that it has been used for many years after, so I understand. It is a great day to walk down, but maybe a bit too windy. I also got to visit Vince's Cross, which has been placed to remember George T. Vince, a seaman who fell off the cliffs near Scott's Hut when trying to get back to the Hut and a nearby ship during a blizzard. He was the first person to lose his life in the McMurdo Sound area.

I shall go back, especially in my "ECW" gear (Extreme Cold Weather) to visit the other sites in the area. I'm starting to make progress with my work, and actually have a heavy week planned. I hope all enjoyed a fun and safe Thanksgiving Holiday.

Matthew
