Hello everyone!

It is my third day here on the ice, and I'm sorry for those who missed out on my e-mails for a few days, SSEC's mailing system was messed up and now things for the most part have improved.

This is the 4th day in a row of great weather. Outside now at 9:29 pm at night it is 15 degrees F, winds are 13 mph out of the North-Northeast, and it is bright and sunshine out! In terms of weather "conditions" here, it is a 3. Here they define weather as being one of three "conditions."

Condition

Meaning

1
White out/blizzard conditions, visibility near zero; stay indoors.
2
Bad weather is taking place, do not leave McMurdo Station.
3
Great weather, moderate to mild conditions.

Needless to say it has been condition 3 since I arrived. Just before it wasn't - they had a condition 1 storm that gave 100 mph winds at one of the local weather stations nearby. Nasty!!

I've been busy working on our computer project here, and having some success. But there is much more to do. Tomorrow I'll be venturing abit, and will e-mail more about my adventures then.

Matthew
