Hello all - just a note to you that I've tried not once, but twice to get off the ground here at Christchurch. First time we had to head back after an hour to fix a radio problem. Next we got all the way to the sea ice edge and then had to turn around due to very strong head winds, and thus a lack of gas. I'm due to try it again today at noon locally.

We've been flying in LC-130s (L=skied aircraft). The flight times are about 9 hours long. It's a bit crowded in the plane but livable. I hope to talk with more of you once I get on the ice!

Matthew
