Hello All,

I hope everyone has recovered from a happy and filling Thanksgiving. Tomorrow we will celebrate Thanksgiving. I'm not sure how it will work out, as this year a few of the flights during this past week did not get into McMurdo. Today for the 4th day in a row they have canceled flights from both McMurdo and
Christchurch. Actually, this morning, the fog that we had been having broke, and they started to fly helos - but the fog came back by lunch, and the flights that had started from Christchurch got turned around (2 I think left, with a 3rd waiting in the wings). There as been no flights from Christchurch to McMurdo for 1 week now. (Last flight to leave McMurdo for Christchurch was 3 days ago). Overall, there's a group of folks at both McMurdo and Christchurch who aren't too happy.

Today I got to meet a high school teacher who is in the Teacher Exprience in Antarctica. The National Science Foundation, who over sees the US Antarctic Program, has and does encourage educational out reach of the work they fund. Here, teachers can apply to come down to Antarctica to learn more about the science that is going on here, and to help use this experience in the classroom. This teacher is a Physics teacher from Montana. She has a Math background, with graduate work in Geophysics and education.

Well, it is getting late. I'll e-mail more tomorrow.

Take care,

Matthew
