Verner E. Suomi Scholarship Award for High School Seniors

The Verner E. Suomi Scholarship Award was established with support from NOAA by CIMSS/SSEC. $1000 scholarships were presented to four outstanding high school seniors from Wisconsin who are planning to attend a University of Wisconsin System undergraduate program in the physical sciences; especially meteorology, earth science, oceanography, physics, astronomy, science or math education, environmental science and engineering.

Congratulations on behalf of the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to the following recipients of the 1998 Verner E. Suomi Scholarship Award; Moire Prescott from Madison Memorial High School; Ryan Torn from Menomonee Falls High School; Lance Wamsley from Cassville High School, and Jason Brunner from Monona Grove High School.  Moire, Ryan, and Jason are all planning to attend UW-Madison, and Lance is planning on attending UW-Platteville.  Ryan, Lance, and Jason are all planning on pursuing a degree in atmospheric and oceanic sciences, while Moire is planning on pursuing a degree in astronomy or astrophysics.
